ISO 9001:2015 is the world’s most widely used standard for a Quality Management System (QMS). Certification shows clients that your organisation follows a documented, consistent way of delivering quality products or services.

Who should get ISO 9001?

  • Businesses bidding for government or PSU tenders that list ISO certification as a requirement.
  • Security agencies, facility management and manpower companies serving corporate clients.
  • Manufacturers and service providers that want to improve processes and reduce errors.

Key benefits

  • Eligibility for more tenders and vendor empanelments.
  • Greater credibility with clients and partners.
  • Clear processes, defined responsibilities and fewer mistakes.
  • A culture of continual improvement.

Good to know: ISO itself does not issue certificates. Certification is done by independent certification bodies — choose one that is properly accredited so your certificate is accepted by clients.

The certification process

  1. Gap analysis — compare your current practices with the standard.
  2. Documentation — quality policy, objectives and the required procedures and records.
  3. Implementation — train your team and follow the system in daily work.
  4. Internal audit and management review.
  5. Certification audit by the certification body (Stage 1 and Stage 2).

Validity

An ISO 9001 certificate is generally valid for three years, with surveillance audits during that period to confirm the system is being maintained.
